For the past 60 years Lotmead has been a family run dairy farm. In 1983 a thriving and award winning Pick Your Own fruit and vegetable was added along with a charming business village located in a converted Victorian cattle building.
The farm continues to evolve and now for the first time Lotmead will be hosting a maze maize! The giant puzzle in the shape of a strawberry will be cut into a 4 acre field of maize.
The maze will provide great entertainment for young and old alike and is the perfect day out for all the family in a beautiful country location. Within the maze not only do you have to solve the puzzle and find your way to the goal but you have the option to take part in a quiz as you go round.
In addition to the maze our very popular PYO opens at the beginning of June and runs through to October. Strawberries are always available along with many other seasonal soft fruits and vegetables. A full daily listing is available by telephoning 01793 790137.
Lotmead is unique in being one of the first farms to place all their strawberries on the Table Tops which means that you don't have to bend and fruit picking remains available to those who remember the early PYO days in the 1970's and are now less mobile!
The farm has become a destination for a relaxed and value for money experience. You can visit our small animal petting centre, enjoy the playground and see 200 cows being milked every afternoon at 4pm from the viewing gallery - all at no extra cost!
Teas coffees and refreshment are of course available together with local produce in our shop.
Once a year, always the third weekend in June, we host a Strawberries and Steam weekend, which as the name suggests is a vintage machinery and rural crafts extravaganza dovetailed with strawberry picking. We receive National coverage for this event and it is now well established in the steam calendar!
